The moat is usually dry, however, there will be 888,246 red ceramic poppies in it, each one representing a British Empire fatality of the war.




Each evening the last post sounds and the names of those who died are read out. Each poppy is planted individually by hand by a team of 150 volunteers. The last poppy is due to be placed on the 11th Novemeber.
