My First army was Blood Angels so it's hard to disagree, but I'm gonna say Tau because I'm loving playing mine right now.

Pick a playstyle that fits you and then choose the aesthetic you love...
A bit oversimplified but:
Fast - Eldar/Dark Eldar
Gunline - Tau/Astra Militarum
Horde - Ork/Tyranid
Oddball - Necrons, Daemons
Jack of All Trades, Master of None - Space Marines
