Default North Star Securities (NSS): Daboarders PanO

Hey all, heres the work I've been doing on my new infinity, The concept behind these guys are that instead of being part of the standard armed forces they are a private "security" firm based out of svalarheima. They are hired when a PanO corporate lobby group requires a more direct approach to their business problems.

To start with this is the progress on my Orc, it seemed like a good place to start.

I splurdged and went out and bought 3 new army painter brushes (character, insane detail, highlight) and I am very impressed, I dont think I will be using GW brushes anymore thats for sure.

So I've only done the base coat on the green and a waywatcher wash, I need to to the highlights with yellow on the green and touch up where some correcting black wash went outside the panel lines. I'm not sure but I think I might put a light green glaze on the white at some point too...we'll see.

Hey guys, bit of progress on my Orc troop. still need to finish cleaning the green on the left leg and wash that leg, but the right leg is ready for the first layer of white, then once those are done I'll do the arms and finally highlight the whole thing.

Hmm probably a bit heavy on the wash on the right leg, but I'm hoping that the highlights help reduce how heavy that looks

Here's progress on the Orc (coming along VERY nicely...though I'm not quite sure if I want to do the gun in a black carbon type look or metallic...

And a start on the fusiliers.

    Hey all,

Played my first 300 pts YAMS game the other night. Some shifty bloke with a link team of heavy infantry killed my sniper first shot of the game and then destroyed a flank and murdered my Jotum when I tried to use it to prevent him getting in and murdering my cheerleaders :streaming-mad:

In other news, got a day off to relax at home and decided to do some more painting on the ORC.

finished the base coat for the green on the other arm and made a start on the metal, initially I wanted to do a carbon/graphite look but I couldn't get that to work properly (just kept coming out like a dark grey blob), so I've gone for a more traditional metal look. I'll probably be using a similar scheme to do the servo's and power cable sections of the rest of the model, should contrast reasonably with the bright green plates.

Did a little more work on the dude, wanted the octagons on the base to match the grey/white areas on the model so decided to try them before I highlighted those sections on the ORC.

Then decided I liked it this way (I had considered a light green wash, but I like the light blue. It harkens well to the PanO blue/white I think)
so I did the highlight on the rest of the blue grey area. Sorry about the bad photos, but when I used the flash the white was getting washed out and you couldn't see the highlights (hopefully this is better)

    Hey all,

Just a quick update of the progress of my highlights on my orc, I went for a 2:1 mix Yellow:Green as the 1:1 I had planed on wan't giving my the definition I wanted.

Quite pleased with it, but had to touch up a few places as I went.

Just tried doing the eyes....not sure if I like how it turned out, always figured they'd be the hardest, hope I haven't ruined this.

That "smudge" under the upper left eye is irritating the crap outta me, gonna have to see if I remember about it tomorrow....sigh

Also did the "scope" on the mulit rifle

Honestly don't know if Im talking to myself in here or not...

In other news....yeah, compulsiveness got the best of me, I scrapped the paint of the guys faceplate and tried to re-do the eyes a few times, couldn't get it to work so I ended up settling on doing them yell and then painting the green around them.

Then I finished up the highlights on the armour (just the backpack left to do)

Really like it, going to be starting my akhali soon too!

Started on my next model (I'll show the finished ORC later in the week.)

Decided to work on my HMG nisses due to her being different than the more recent sculpts (in terms of plating and style etc)

I want the cloth leggings for my models to be a dark grey and so I started with that, not entirely pleased with it, but I think it will do on her once I get the armour plating done. and I'm getting cleaner paints for the other models (plus the larger details on them will help)

Then I did the coat, decided to do all the highlights before giving it a sepia wash so that it was more "blended" from one colour to the next.

I really like how the cloth has come out, It's messier than my armoured sections but I have always liked that contrast, and the messiness helps get across a sense of organic movement that contrasts with the rigid armour.

Not sure how to do the wrist guard/ hands, I'm thinking a dark brown leather, they don't really have the structure for armour plating in my opinion. then I'll do the HMG before I do the head and chest plating.

Bit of more work on the nisses. Note that the coat and leggings are different. I'd dropped her but then threw her in metho for a swim and re-did it, unfortunately I forgot that i had watered down the sepia wash, but on the plus side I prefer the blue white pants.
