Tyranid ships from other model lines.

I've built at one point or another several BFG fleets, but my tyranid fleet has always bugged me because (try as I might) aside from the hive ship itself I can't really find any models that I like. I've converted half a dozen different models for even basic escort drones. The problem I have is that (even the official GW ones) always look like a mish-mash of 40k scale bits (because, well... that is EXACTLY what they are) and it just bugs my that they don't really stand on their own because of it.

After my latest failed attempt to create a converted model I liked I've revisited an idea I had a while ago; that of using Full Thrust model bio-ships from the Phalon or Sa'Vasku lines (possibly with a little conversion work). I have always hesitated because I'm not really sure how well they stand up in terms of detail and scale to BFG ships. Price wise they are a good deal, I can get a dozen scout or destroyer class ships for around $12-15 dollars, but before I get that many I was hopping someone who owns some of these models or has seen them could let me know how they compare.

I was never really sure how I felt about the Tyranid BFG models. They seemed kind of amorphous and undetailed to me. Then again, I don't have a better, clear suggestion, and I've always been an Imperial player...
