Well, wolves and dogs are very much the same, dogs are pretty much just domesticated canines we've screwed with through selective breeding. That's why people sometimes sell wolves, either accidentally or not. (My most amusing run-in with one was a surprisingly dumb domesticated wolf. He was nice, but man, he did NOT have it all upstairs. Might have had something to do with being stuck on a fence when it got hit by lightning, though.)

And then if the wolf has no pack to run with, and these funny look wolves come around, and they're friendly, well... there's your new pack!

She's not the pilot, but a cosplayer dressed as one of the mascots of Kisazaru airbase at it's 45th anniversary open day:

Last weekend, as a part of Kisarazu city’s aviation festival, the JSDF presented their new AH-1S Cobra helicopter, for use in (defensive!) tank-busting operations, which soon became the star of the show thanks to its unexpected “moé style” artwork and the introduction of an original flame-haired character going by the name of Kisarazu Akane, after the city.
