I don't think the Chinese actually eat them like that? Or at least when I had them they were in a traditional dish which balances the flavour. The trouble I have with videos like Ashens is often they are eaten on their own which people of the culture would not do or they are served cold when they should be served hot.

I'll try most foods once; I'm not precious or terribly fussy. I have the flavours I like and dislike, but I'll give most things a go, and with all due respect to the skills of world class chefs... But there is no way on Earth I would eat a century egg by choice. I don't care how it's prepared, or what it's served with, whether it's hot, cold...

As a native Scot, haggis is something I never tried until recently, and it's pretty tasty. Not the traditional kind, mind. Square sausage is the cat's pajamas, though. Throw it in some Mother's Pride and follow it down with a snowball or Empire Biscuit.
