Also the Wii was a'right, but I got bored of its schtick really quickly. The WiiU felt like a desperate attempt to react to the success of the mobile market by gluing an iPad to a controller and making it infinitely less portable, usable and slick. :|
I mostly just use the proper control pad unless the game requires the second screen for some reason.

I remember when ZombiU came out - with a Dead Island style Trailer Of Lies - and they were gushing about how revolutionary it was to have to look at a second screen to control your inventory, as you'd have to keep looking up to check zombies aren't on you.

At which point I was wondering when this ever came up, because most people just sat in a zombie-inaccessible area to access their inventory, same as in every other game ever, but it just meant you had this unwieldy controller that drained battery for what was a really minor gimmick. I mean, some games used it as a mini-map, but that was annoying as well.

I dunno, once you strip away the tablet-controller and the endless recycling of old Nintendo IPs, there wasn't anything that made me want to drop dollah on a WiiU.

Yeah they do recycle the IP, but they do also tend to change it more than the latest iteration of COD or FIFA.

TBH since I've been buying my own I've always gone the Nintendo/PC route I suppose if I wanted to be an arse I could emulate the the wii on the PC and do away with console completely.

It's a solid feature if you want to play old SNES games, as you can just use the controller and watch the telly at the same time.

Hardly a high benchmark to be setting. Plus CoD is changing itself up a bit lately by ripping pieces from Crysis, Halo and Batman to be this weird amalgam of games mashed together.

I finished Advanced Warfare last night. It was at times pretty clever, at times infuriating and non-functional, and mostly just a bit crap.

I still stick with nes, snes and gameboy stuff for my nintendo fix - but then I'm 2D all the way.
