The first set of models are complete. Prototype schemes for the Myth minions and Firestorm Armada frigates. The monk hero for Myth is on a Secret Weapon Miniatures ruined temple base. Since the grey bases are pretty bland, and the same colour as their plastic, I will be trying out different colours for them. I will probably end up with a khaki colour, like sand. That might work.

The next 4 ships have been completed. Tarakain cruisers. Same scheme as their frigate counterparts. I will be finishing the fleet in the next couple days.

Completed more of the minions and such. 20 Crawlers, a rat captain, and a hero have been sent to the finished pile. This is going to look like one sexy board game when its done.

Today, I have for your enjoyment, a batch of Skeletons and an Orc captain. I am a bit behind on picture updates, but that is because I am focussing on churning out all these awesome models. So much fun!

For today’s Myth update, I have finished a bunch of Captains. The ones with the staff are very finicky. It is very easily bent and tends to want to stay that way, even when heated and repositioned. I will be trying some more to get them straighter.

Do not think I forgot about the Firestorm Armada commission. I was just working on one of the big ones. I had a Tarakain frigate that was straggling, so I finished that. I finished the Tarakain fighter and bomber tokens. Then the big one.

I went for the Omnidyne Dreadnought. Like the Tarakain, this one was to be non-standard colour scheme. With a freehand logo. I decided to put it on the very front. I was thinking about spreading it all over the hull of the ship, but there are just so many details that it would end up obscuring and distorting the logo. Maybe smaller ones without the wreath, simplifying it, to put on each side. But, I think it looks great.

Sorry for the delayed update. However, I have been busy working on the commission. The minions are now complete. I fixed up some of the captains from last time. Replaced the staves with brass rods, gave different fur colour to the rat and scorpions.

The rat minions have some variety in their colours. The skeleton boss is looking good. Another skeleton captain has been given some more colour than the concept art.

The Terran Battleship and its fighters are complete. Very clean.

Spartan Games was nice and has sent the replacement part for the Tarakain Battleship bridge. I am just awaiting that part to finish off that battlegroup. The Kedorian battlegroup is going to be started on as well. I am excited to put together “shining cities in space”.

The beginning of the end. There are little more than a dozen models left in this Myth commission.

Today, I submit to you, 3 bosses, a minotaur, 2 heroes, and a dog (which is also a miniboss?)

The bases are from Secret Weapons Miniatures, which, I think, compliment the models very nicely. Even if the bases are quite a bit bigger than what were supplied. The bosses were interesting to paint. The rats each had funny little details to pick out. The brown rat has a little imp thing sitting on its head holding the reigns, and the rat shouldering the smaller rats has a little crown and the pumpkins on the base really added to the theme of “scary rat king”. The bug boss has little grubs spawning out of various orifices.

I added more colours to the minotaur than the concept art (which was all browns), much more interesting to look at. I followed the concept art scheme for the dog, a fun model to paint.

Finally, the heroes. The torch bearer had a nice variety of textures to explore. The treeman/Groot, I painted like a tree. Unfortunately not much colour variety. However, to add a bit of interest to the model, I put autumn leaves in various places on the model. Gives some more narrative to the model. I think I will go back and add some green to the appendages to make them vine-like. That would give a better colour variety.

Just 2 battleships to go and this commission is complete.

Today, these two Kedorian cruisers are painted to the theme “shining cities in space”. In my research, I came across High Charity (Halo), The Citadel (Mass Effect), various sci-fi movies and finally Doctor Who; Galifrey. Some of these space cities were dark and brooding, but the ones that fit the “shining” part of the theme shined as if the buildings were made of chrome or gold. This is where I stopped at Galifrey. Although on a planet, Galifrey fit the “shining” aspect very well and could be translated effectively to the Kedoarian cruisers. The Kedorian battleship will also following this scheme, but will utilize contrast to a much greater degree, giving amore powerful shining effect.

These cruisers also have bands of sparkles around the rim and the side spires. I wanted to give the effect of stars and other entities reflecting off the hull of the cruisers.

Just 2 models left in the Myth commission. I will be breaking out the airbrush just for them.

Today, I have an Orc boss and all the heroes complete. The heroes were all very interesting to paint, all unique. My favourite is the Bagpipe Bard. He wears the kilt so well, and I did a little pattern for it as well. I just had to make the duelist/pirate a bit fabulous with the majestic clothes. The facial hair and hat called to me, inspired me.

Just one more model to go. Spartan Games played nice and sent me the replacement bridge piece for this battleship, so I could complete it. The Tarakain fleet is now complete. Just the Kedorian battleship to finish.

And these 2 models are the last of the Myth commission. The dragon I put on little fiery bits like the cracks in the scales and the tip of its tail. The other monster reminded of a Titan from Attack on Titan. Too bad it wasn’t positioned in a way that it moved like those Titans, that would be hilarious. I make the rock-growths on this monster gem-like; rubies, sapphires, amethysts, and emeralds. Not the most dangerous minerals, but he sure could pay his bills.

And here is the final model for the Firestorm Armada commission. The Kedorian Battleship. Like its destroyer escorts, this battleship has the theme of “shining cities in space”. A display level commission, I added shading and lots of contrasting browns and blacks to the gold and silver highlights. The reflecting bands catching the twinkling of the stars really added to the theme so it was kept for this model as well. On the underside, the battleship has 4 thin spires. However, I had to glue the base to this ship in an attempt to protect those fragile pieces.
