It certainly couldn't hurt having more women in, the original does better than a lot of modern kids shows (like every Marvel cartoon ever, with the token female that does nothing, and a token female supporting character who does very little) in that you had the lady pilot squad who actually got **** done, and at the Spectrum conference table in the last couple of episodes I saw when they had a big meeting there was 4/8 women but I think two of them had little speaking role and the other two were Angels so...

Very interesting premise, disappointed with the other cast mentioned, all men. Definitely going to keep an eye o it though.
Ask not the EldarGal a question, for she will give you three answers, all of which are puns and terrifying to know. Back off man, I'm a feminist. Ia! Ia! Gloppal Snode!

The Angels kicked *** for sure! many times they saved the day and blew **** up but yeah we didn't really get to know them that well. I only vaguely remember a few episodes where they had much speaking. I love captain scarlet though, it was always my fave of the Gerry Anderson shows as it had a slightly more mature/darker tone and better puppets. I'm such a ****ing nerd I even sampled stuff from the theme tune in one of my albums lol

yeah mate, agreed on the cast - I hope the main villain will be female at least. Something like Lilith would be my personal choice, but it might be good, I like the premise.

Well it did get a second season IIRC.

Watched a couple, it wasn't bad, the Mid 00's seemed to be the start of more intelligent cartoons IMHO.

It was a bit of an unusual role to give women in that sense, they mostly consisted of being sent in to blow **** up and be badass which was really enjoyable, but yes not the most developed or vocal characters.

Yep, not going to dismiss it on those grounds but hope they do better if they get renewed for a second season. Also interested in checking out Preacher which has a similar supernatural theme.

There was a big decline in cartoon quality in the late 90s I think after really top tier stuff like Batman the Animated Series, Gargoyles, X-Men and so forth ended and we got a lot of puerile nonsense until around 2005 yep.

so the new 2016 summer anime season has begun.

Aside from Berserk, it doesn't look very promising at all :
