I think "smaller maps" and "over simplified" were the common complaints I'd seen which doesn't really apply to either of those.

Not all maps were in the beta for a start and much of the simplification was doing away with ridiculously complicated weapon customisations and skill trees and whatnot. If you want that sort of thing, played an RPG like a sensible person lol.
