Default What is the best mat for X-Wing ?

I am looking for a mat. What I really want is one that matches the actual ship base cards. Does anybody have much experience with the different mats out there and found one that matches the ship bases ?

I bought one some months back. It had a large planet in one corner that took up about 20% of the area of the mat. Quite frankly, it looked rubbish when I put the black based ships on top of it. This was a problem I did not see coming !

I use this one as I like the larger playing surface. Ships look pretty good on it although their will be a little disconnect when they move across the nebula sections.

With what you are looking for this one may work well.

I absolutely love these game mats. I have actually purchased every version of the 6x4 mat's that they make. They are essentially giant mouse pads so they are durable, nonslip and have nice graphics. They muffle the dice clatter if you roll on them and they are quite water resistant. Others will have to speak for different options that may be available.

They are currently having a 20% off sale too. 3x3 Vinyl is cheap, durable, and stores well. Click image for larger version.

We are playing a scenario from Star Trek Attack Wing, but something similar could serve you well.

I like that Frontline Starfield mat. It looks like just what I am after. I assume it will match the X-Wing base cards, as I imagine X-Wing players is probably the market they are aiming at.

I have discovered it is not available in the UK yet, but should be from Jan 2015, so not long to wait. No good to put on the Christmas list though.

Fantasy Flight has released a couple maps, both 3x3 one with the deathstar in the background and one a regular star map. I don't have a rubber mat yet, guess I will wait.
