Twelve monkeys, eleven hats. One monkey is sad.
I'd compare more to Dragon Age, Kingdoms of Amalur, stuff like that, since GoW doesn't, to my knowledge, have serious roleplaying elements in it. (Admittedly, I still haven't played GoW, despite owning 1-3.)

I love those old games, but unfortunately, they're much better suited for PC, and all the companies are trying to make games that work on consoles as well. The first Dragon Age caught some flak for being a nice experience on PC but rough on consoles because its design was suited better to keyboard and mouse. If someone can figure out how to make it work, it'd be nice. Or if EA would allow Bioware to make games for just the PC that aren't MMO's.
I hear Pillars of Eternity was a good game using the old style. Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but fans of those style games have been high on it, so that's worth checking out.
Might have a look at that then post fallout 4. Remind me in six months
However the process of robo-insemination is far too complex for the human mind!
