That's right, Warhammer Online is now on a private server. It's still very much in alpha but still playable. They also want help with everything and are asking for coders.
Maybe the world's first 100% free to play MMO.

Before I commit to downloading it and get too excited... Have they said anything about whether GW is allowing this? I can't find anything on their website, and, having seen GW go absolutely bonkers over fan sites that weren't making any money or giving away a product (licensed or otherwise), I'm worried that when they finally catch wind of this, they'll come down hard on it and shut it down in an instant. It'd be nice to see a post or something with, "Yeah, we checked with GW, they're totally okay with this."

I think it goes under the category of "fan project." As long as it doesn't charge money, it's legal.

I'm more worried about EA than GW honestly.
