Default SomeRandomIdiot's Hot Rod Inspired Iyanden Eldar

While at the Las Vegas Open this past week, I was inspired to start an Eldar army after seeing a number of incredible models (this may be related to my need to paint a Scorpion grav tank). I want to do something special with the paint job, so I've decided to paint the army in Iyanden's colors, with the yellow pushing a bit into orange, and add hot rod style flames to the grav tanks, bikes, and characters. I've never done a project thread before, but I figure if I post things while I'm working on them, it'll give me more incentive to keep working. I think that doing hot rod style flames on the front of a grav tank could look incredible, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

    Here's my inspiration:

I've started painting a Farseer in that theme, here's some WIP pictures. The flames definitely look more orange in person than they do in these pictures.

Here's my first attempt at the paint style on a Falcon- I think I want to go a bit higher on the blue highlights, but I'm pretty happy with how the flames turned out. Any thoughts/suggestions?

I like it! But I wonder if you didn't go too big with the flames? Guess that the rat rods that I've seen, the flames stay 'whole' and don't 'fall off' the vehicle, if that makes any sense.

Hmm, I agree, but I actually think I like this style of flames better. It lets me push them a bit further up the hull of the tank without making them seem too long. I did work on the turret of the tank last night, but I have no idea whether I want to build it as a Fire Prism or a Night Spinner.
