Default Codex Cult Mechanicus Rumor Roundup

    via Captain Citadel 4-20-2015

Cult Mechanicus is coming. Their troops will be the Electro-priests that everyone has been raving about for weeks. From the looks of it, we'll also finally see the Imperial robots that compliment Forge World's existing range, and other all new exotic units.
    B&C's Atia found: 4-20-2015

it looks like two new Knights will be part of this release:

There will be a new combo kit for the Cult Mechanicus that contains their core unit the Elctro-Priest. One version features large double handed glaives similar to the old model from the 1990's and the other is armed with archaic looking wrist mounted shooting weapons. Both versions feature robed legs, and torsos with exposed fleshy chests that contain the bio-electrical details that they are known for.

Their heads are both bare, and some are blindfolded as well. The close combat versions are wreathed in cog plate, and the shooting variant (with the wrist mounted weapons) have yet more archaic equipment grafted into their backs and heads.

They both share the same robed legs which look similar to the zealots of olde, and are topped with a very American wrestling championship styled belt crowned with a large Mechanicus cog. Their bases are smaller than 40mm.

    - Electro-Priests are not troops like earlier rumors were saying today, instead both Electro-Priests units are Elites.
    - Its a dual kit with Fulgurite Electro-Priests and Corpuscarii Electro-Priests.
    - Energy Fields give both units a 5++.
    - Fulgurites have staves with enhanced strength and can get a 3++ for the rest of the game if they wipe out a unit in close combat.
    - Corpuscariis have gauntlets that are assault weapons shooting with a 12″ range, and can also be used in close combat.
    - Both weapons have other abilities as well that fit with the Electro-Priests. They can be taken groups of up to 20.
    via Captain Citadel 4-22-2015
The HQ unit for the New Cult Mechanicus is called a Tech Priest Dominus. This is a larger character model that is similar to the Forge World Magos models, except it is done in plastic. He is similar yet different that a Magos, robed and slightly hunched over from the arcane mechanisms mounted on his back. There are two head options one is crowned with a strange almost papal hat and the other with the normal hooded mechanicus garb.

There are servo arms that stabilize the figure to the ground and do not have free motion. He walks with an immense staff that is a much larger and more ornate version of a Tech Prist's weapon, and also sports a cane.

The model has multiple spidery legs concealed under his robe, and is on a 40mm base.
    via Captain Citadel 4-22-2015
The Second combo kit for the new Mechanicus will feature tracked conveyor infantry models who resemble cybernetic terminators cut at the waist and attached to set of small triangle treads.

One unit type will be heavily armored, and decked out for close quarters engagements.
The second is less armored, and features two types of cannon; a plasma cannon varainat, and a larger calibre weapon.

    They are on 50mm bases.
    via Captain Citadel 4-26-2015

The name of the new tracked infantry models that will be releasing are Kataphron Destroyers.

They are the lighter armoured tracked infantry variants that features two types of cannon; a version of the familiar plasma cannon and a newer larger tech-based calibre weapon of mysterious providence.

The models themselves feature a mechanical upper body hardwired both into the track assembly and weapon arms, but can swivel at the hip whilst their power feeds are contained into rear back mounted power sources.

Each miniature has the main weapon attached to their right arms which are cropped at the shoulder, and their left arms contain a smaller hand held flamer type weapon.

Their heads are rife with targeting reticules and there is no organic components visible on these versions of the models.

They are heavy support choices for Cult Mechanicus.
    via Captain Citadel 4-27-2015
Cult Mechanicus will feature a new robot type unit that is part Forge World Castellex, part Space Marine Centurion.

Their bodies are plated armour sealed in the front much like the centurions in appearance, but with no chest mounted weapons. They are on 50mm bases and are quite larger than the Centurion models. Their heads are a giant domed EVA helmet which looks quite fantastic. There are no organic components visible the models, they are automanta.

There are several armaments they come with; a larger calibre cannon in their right hand to flamer type weapon in their left. Articulated hands with finger appendages are also an option, as well as a top shoulder mounted versions of these same type weapons.

    Next week's White Dwarf:
Next weeks white dwarf has an exclusive formation that combines Skitarii, a Knight and Cult Mechanicus to an all AdMech army.

The previews for next week say:
    - Electrifying
    - Lords of Mars let loose
via one of Gary's birds 5-19-2015

Both priest units are S and T3 and start off with 5 models per squad. their shields give them a 5++ and allow them to assault through cover, but with an I3 it doesnt really matter much. What does help these guys is that they hammer of wrath at s4.

The main difference between the two units is an electric staff or electric gauntlets. The staff is +2 strength AP4 and the gauntlets +1 strength and are both shooting and melee- you have to choose one or the other-. The fulgurites with the staves can get a 3++ if they wipe out a unit in close combat for the rest of the game.

The tech priest can either repair a hull point-vehicle damage, or heal a wound in his unit. is an independent character with a 2+ save and 3 wounds, feel no pain, and relentless. He also comes with a 5++ and wielding a power axe. He can fire on the move with an upgraded eradication ray, which is a heavy 1 s8 ap1 or a s6 ap3 blast

Hi guys! Here’s your spanish favourite codex leaker of all times!!!
I already own my copy of the Cult Mechanicusc codex.
    Relics:
    – 2+ Armour save to bearer + all weapons in the unit have the Cognis SR
    – Bearer and unit gain “It will not die” SR
    – Every turn may choose to identify a Mistery objective or observe an enemy vehicle. All rolls to penetrate againts an observed vehicle may be re-rolled, as well as glancing hits.
    – One CC weapon that only Works againts vehicles. Make only one attack, if hit, roll in a table:
1: Controller of target vehicle may restore one hull point
2-3: Controller of weapon decides if vehicle loses one hull point or restores one.
4-5: Same as above but 1D3
6+: Same as above but 1D6
    – Kastelan protocols have an inmediate effect. Previous protocol may not be chosen anymore.
    – Model gains 1D6 CC attacks S4, AP5, Shred

    Canticles:
They are declared at the beginning of the turn. 3 possible effects depending on the amount of units in your army. Cannot use the same one twice.

    Units Effect
    1-3 Stubborn
4-7 Stubborn + reroll Fear, Pinning and Moral
    8+ Fearless

1-3 In CC, every enemy unit receives a S4 at I10 hit for every Cult model in this combat
4-7 Same as above, but 2 hits per Cult model
8+ Same as above but 3 hits

1-3 Reroll 1 to hit in CC
4-7 Reroll 1 and 2 to hit in CC
8+ Reroll to hit in CC

    1-3 Stealth
    4-7 Shrouded
    8+ Both

    1-3 +1S
    4-7 +2S
    8+ +3S

    1-3 Reroll 1 to shot
    4-7 Reroll 1 and 2 to shot
    8+ Reroll to shot

    Dominus (105)
    – 2+ armour save
    – 3 wounds
    – Volkite Blaster (S6,AP5, Heavy 3, Deflagrate (Inflicts one additional wound per unsaved wound)
    – One pistol that fires five shots, S4, AP6 (Cannot translate the name to English)
    – Power Axe
    – Mechandrite Harness: May fire all his weapons during the shooting phase, and his CC attacks have the Haywire SR, +1A at I10
    – Skrutinizing Servoskull (Free translation): Every turn he may indentify one mistery objective
    – 5++
    – Relentless

    – IC
Once per turn, on a roll of 2+ he may restore one hull point of a vehicle in base contact, or one Wound of one model of his unit (Skitarii or Cult)

    Equipment
Carachters may purchase a Stasis Field:
The bearer and the unit get a 2++ save as long as they are “Gone to Ground”, but the WS and BS are reduced to 0.

    – The heavy grav cannon is Salvo 4/6. So a unit of 3 Kataphron Destroyers (165) shots 18 grav shots. Not bad at all.

    There are 4 formations:
    - Cohort Cybernetica
    1x Dominus
    2 Kastelan Robot Maniples
Kastelan protocols have an inmediate effect when chosen
For every Datasmith and Dominus one Robot may fire to a different target.
Dominus and the 2 maniples are a single unit. Dominus may not abandon the unit.

    - Elimination Maniple
    2-3 unitos of Kataphron Destroyers
    1-3 Kastelan Robot Maniples
If one Robot inflincts one unsaved wound or a penetrating hit with a weapon with the Luminogen SR, the rest of the formation gains +1BS and ignore cover when firing to that unit.

    - Numinous Maniple
    2-3 units of Fulgurite Electro-Priests
    2-3 units of Corpuscarii Electo-Priests
If a Corpuscarii unit is at 6″ or less of 1 or more Fulgurite unit, they gain +1 shot when firing. If one unit suffers one or more unsaved wounds, it is considered “electrified” until the end of turn.
If a Fulgurite units attacks in CC to an “electrified” unit, they reroll to wound

    - Holy Requisitioner
    1 Dominus
    2-3 Kataphron Breachers
    Deep Strike
They have to stay in Reserve. When deployed, the Dom¡nus does not scatter if deployed at 6″ or less of an objective marker. Breachers do not scatter as long as they arrive at 6″ or less of the Dominus.
They have the Zealot and Counterattack SR when at 6″ or less from a objective marker.

Some of these seem really powerful, especially those canticles. I think they apply to the Knight that can be taken in thei formation they have too. Very cool stuff

I don't think they can really sculpt sparks on the model. But you might be able to paint them to give the hint they're sparking.

They might not work as basic Mechanicus, but I do like that the Skitarii have a sort of "frontier" look to them, which makes them ideal to eventually add into my Rogue Trader force. The chicken walkers might not quite fit that look, but heck, they're too expensive for me anyway, and it's easy to imagine them not being terribly effective in a Rogue Trader's fleet where they won't have easy access to replacement servitors to keep the thing running (also, if it's locked up in a ship, does it keep running all day?).

That's an awesome idea. I just imagine these robed things with all these trailing cables and other cables spilling out with sharp looking taser impliments on them. Could easily paint blue glow effects to show they are sparking, yeah.

So far, the only models I'd buy between both ranges are the FW Magos and Scyllax models - both of which are some of the coolest kits in 40k generally IMO. Especially that Magos, so bizarre and techno-medieval.

I suspect we'll see three small codexes before a full codex is released. Maybe four if imperial knights get rolled in as their lord of war.

    Well, I suppose that works.

I feel like sometimes they don't really think about what they're writing, because there's not really any universe where the fluff for the chicken walkers makes sense.
