Speaking as a self-identifying feminist/feminist ally, I linked point 5 to the Feminism thread in the Oubliette for that exact reason. No point starting a fresh discussion when we've been having it quite successfully here for several years now.

I have....many many questions for you ladies but am figuring how to pose them so i dont come across like da or something.

Start by reading the Feminism thread. You can post all your questions there. It's actually a surprisingly calm place most of the time. The occasional argument breaks out, but they never last more than about a week.

Yeah, totally agree. Those stories? They're basically why I'm a feminist. 'Cause, you know, I'll talk for hours about why need things like female Space Marines, and more Black Widow toys, and more Marvel films with protagonists who are played by women (or frankly anyone who's not white, blonde, male and named Chris), but that's only as part of making geek/intellectual culture more accomodating to girls/young women, integrating them with boys/young men who might not otherwise get to spend time around them, building bridges between the genders, and hopefully stopping stuff like the sort of thing you see on [url=http://projectunbreakable.tumblr.com/]Project Unbreakable[/url]

Now blue bit is a link to their site. If you're up to it, click, and have a read. I can normally manage reading about of the placards ten before I'm really upset, fifteen before I'm crying, and twenty before I have to quit. I've never managed more than twenty five; I just can't take that much pain. Assuming you have a soul? It is one of the most upsetting sites on the internet.

It is also really, really important.

Because feminism doesn't exist because women are whining, or because they want to take away men's stuff, or because it's about ethics in gaming journalism. Feminism exists because both women and men suffer, every day, because our genders are not equal. The link above is a curated record of that suffering, and it's barely the tip of the iceberg.

Being a feminist is the moral duty of all those who would call themselves good and decent. Anyone who thinks otherwise simply hasn't bothered to learn what it is.

Because all it is is believing both genders should be treated equally; to do that, though, requires learning about a lot of unspoken, invisible, and often deeply personal cultural stuff that most people? Don't want to do. Because learning is hard - it's an effort of pure will - and challenging the status quo is even harder.

(also if you check out the blog post, you'll find that word didn't originally say "fascists;" it said "****s," but the forum censors that. It's them specifically that have been demonised to the point they're not even seen as hunams any more.)

40k can basically be summed up as;
Space **** Crusading Knights fight for humanity,
Unspeakable monsters fight against humanity,
Tau pretend to be nice and then sterilise you,
Enjoy being doomed.
In an environment like that there's enough violence and intolerance to cover any base, but since the galaxy is vast and infinitely varies there are nice people and places too.
However given the tine and setting of the game/reading material anywhere nice will soon be eaten by nids, or murdered by black templars for not keeping their Aquila at a 90 degree angle to the wall, or defecated on by orks for lolz.
