    Always a good strategy.

also remember there is a delay when using a stimpak while you shove it in you, so often mid-combat food is a better choice unless you can get behind cover and avoid being shot well ded. Food is actually super useful in FO4, I kind of didn't bother with it in previous games, just nuka-cola and stimpaks.
Ask not the EldarGal a question, for she will give you three answers, all of which are puns and terrifying to know. Back off man, I'm a feminist. Ia! Ia! Gloppal Snode!

I largely ignored it in 3, but played hardcore in NV so had to actually eat

Don't forget that sprinting is also your friend. When I was fighting in that plant, I had to run around a lot to move between cover and make up ground faster. Sure, you can't use VATS as much afterward, but VATS is kind of useless if you're trying to pick off someone a long distance away who's shooting you with a longer ranger weapon.

Mod your weapons and armor when you can. It's totally worth investing in those perks. My character isn't particularly strong, not an amazing shot with a gun, and not that tough, but can wade through Raider camps by now just because I mod every bit of gear to the max. (But seriously, a max-modded Overseer's Guardian is freaking obscene, especially if you also max out the automatic weapons damage boosting perk.)

In other notes, I really need to brush up on my Lovecraft so I stop wandering into places named "Dunwich Borers" or "Pickman Gallery" and being surprised at what I see.

For added fun: Go to Pickman Gallery with Piper as your companion. If they'd programmed a retching sound, I think I would have heard it at some point in there. Can't really blame her... of all the messed up things I've seen (and heard, because of course there's a holotape), that place ranks really high in the game on the disturbing and messed up list.

I'll have to go there. I've only been in the entrance to Dunwhich to recover a settler. I've not really explored the extreme north east of the map yet.
