firstly: the issue with a lack of points isn't that you need a gentleman's agreement to play (any game is best if you and your opponant are in agreement over how to play the game) but instead that player A says 'I want to use my new unit of x along with y and z' and player B askes 'well how many of A B and C should I bring to balance the game?' but there is little to no way of guessing that answer.

Secondly: "if you are going to glue all of your spears of you fricken elfs strait up so people can't measure to the spear tips... this game is not for you" who knew that I selected Age of Sigmar not for me when I assembled my spear elves around 10 years ago. I appreciate what you mean about modeling for advantage but given that spearmen of any faction would only rank up with no more than 1 rank of spears set (and even then it becomes a problem to position units for combat)

tertiary: there is nothing to stop the sudden death bonuses going to the stronger force, it cares only for model count. again even in a friendly game this can be an issue as some armies are going to be more elite than others. skaven vs ogres, if the forces are even close to balance the ogres will gain sudden death. it doesn't need to be someone trying to abuse (or really use seeing as the rules are clearly not bothered about that) the system

quaternary: randomly decided player orders and being tactical. to some degree this is true, but only where models have similar movement characteristics. if a player goes second and then first a unit of knights can move 20+3d6", there is nothing tactical about it. his opponent can't hold back out of range because with a 38" max charge (with little/no affect for moveing though terrain or even having to be able to see a unit to charge it) covers most of the board and during the knights players turn his opponent can't do anything to prevent it.
