    Default 40k Cabinet of Curiosities

    Hello all!

The main thing that keeps me from posting project pics is that I tend to jump around... a lot. I have at least 10+ projects going all the time spanning multiple games, scales and genres. Over time some grow in importance receiving attention and others fade into obscurity, hopefully to be revitalized at a later date! Poor Dark Eldar had a 10 year lag between start and finish. The main thing I've learned to help deal with having the attention span of a toddler is to always keep a paint sheet with every project that details the brand, colour and 'edition' of the paints used. Very, very important... especially if you mix any colours! Trying to colour match mixed or old armies can take a lot of effort without this little helper.

Anyhow. I thought one thing I could do is post a master thread to cover at least the 40k projects all in one place. That way I can just bounce in whatever projects are peaking my interest over time.

I also chose the title with purpose as well as I will be posting up finished pieces of rare, weird and unreleased 40k models as they make their way from my model closets into production and maybe even to the tabletop.

To kick things off I'll start with the 40k faction that is near and dear to my heart. The glorious, perfidious Eldar! This army matches my preferred playstyle perfectly as I far enjoy a game of movement over one of stand and shoot. With that in mind let's get this photo flood rolling.

My personal favorite of all the Eldar... The Harlequins

And some Venoms painted up to be Harlequin rides

Like most of my projects I had already started these Venoms long before the Harlequin book/models were even rumored... and not having a bandwagon personality I always finish what I've started... eventually.

    Much more to follow.

Next up are the humble guardians... backbone of many a craftworld force! The kit is getting old and a lot of folks think it seriously needs an update, but with a little care and attention you can get a lot of movement out of these models!

I obviously have a bit of a thing for models chucking grenades while they are running about...

I also like to integrate old metal models into the line up like this fella

    and good old Daemon mask!

And while on the subject of Guardians, we can't forget that they

Get some cool floating support weapons

...and access to AA guns via the Aegis defense line like this Eldar version of the Autocannon

    Cleaned up some Guardian support.

Wave serpents have been modeled with vectored engines and scattered battle damage.

I love War Walkers in Game and have a couple more squads to finish up after this one.

My favorite Eldar fighter is the FW version.

Trying to get some mileage out of various old aspect warrior sets. All metal and some stretch back to the original Jes Goodwin designs.

Just warming back up after several months of low level hobby fun! Working on a Marine Librarian on a bike with an 'astral projection'. We'll see how it goes...
