I am a BA player and I don't think they look nice.

I should moderate my tone a bit - I don't like these things but only because they just looked phoned in. They took a generic set of HH era power armor Mk WhateverMcPants and just copy and pasted the BA emblems on it.

Doesn't really look inspired to me. The BA tac box at least had some torso that were really nice - like the one with the embedded chalice on the chest. Helmets with a unique, distinct feel to them amongst the 40k marine line - I just don't see that with these BA kits.

but then that is the point, this is 30k not 40k. 40k plastic sets have the advantage of being able to draw from loads of marks of armour and thousands of years of variation. Of course heresy armour looks like a slight variation of mkIV, that is the point.

    There is that.

At that point in time, a Marine's armour was a matter of mass production. It wasn't until later they became revered Relics of the Chapter/Legion, so a more utilitarian approach suits.

As others have said - it's the Legion elites and uniques that need the ponci game up.

They didn't seem to have a problem making nice "Generic" armors for Ultramarines

Invictarii and Praetorians aren't rank and file 'generic' legionnaires like the Blood Angel kits though. And that said there's not a whole lot different between the detail of the BA stuff and the Ultramarine Praetorian kits anyway.

Pretty much around the same time Marines went from being the guys leading the crusade against humanity's enemy and being kind of "front-line soldiers" (albeit extremely good ones) to being practically gods in everyone's eyes.

I really like that in the 30K universe, the Imperium doesn't seem as messed up with revering everything. In 40K I feel like people even pray to the Holy Imperial Porcelain Throne (the toilet).

Just because its mass produced doesn't mean it has to look bad.

Steve Jobs would fire designers and engineers for taking the point of view you have here :P

I wasn't referring to the fluff. If you, as an ultramarine player, want to deck out your 30k marines, you log into Forgeworld and pick up UM themed torsos. They are nicely sculpted, have legion icons actually ON the chest pieces. You go to do the same for BA and you get what? An eggplant wrapped in filigree on two torsos and a weird skull thing? BA and Iron Warriors(more so than the rest) were pretty shafted in the embellishment department this time around.

That's because apple is about form over function.

However the process of robo-insemination is far too complex for the human mind!
