Default reall life representations?

what would you guys think would be a good representation for a bolt gun, a lasgun (like the ones cadians havebecause i know you will probably say any rifle), and possibly a heavy bolter. i would like to see which ones match up the most and possibly get them don't know yet already plan on getting a M249 para saw for thoose that know what it is.

Are we talking about visual matches, operational matches, or tactical role matches? Are we concerned about commercial availability? Or for that matter, are we restricting ourselves to weapons that are already in general deployment?

EDIT: In terms of visual matches, the M36 Kantrael looks very similar in my opinion to the G-3.

As for boltgun visual similarities, I'd probably try to kitbash something. You can make an M41A out of a Thompson, a SPAS-12, a Model 870P and some resin, so that's probably the general approach I'd take to creating a visual boltgun (the SPAS-12 forend particularly). To my knowledge there is no single weapon currently existing or contemplated that looks like a boltgun or heavy bolter.

In terms of operational matches, of course, there aren't any, because nobody uses laser weapons in an antipersonnel role and nobody uses combination self- and externally-propelled ammunition except in artillery pieces. Space marine boltguns and bolt pistols probably use approximately 25mm rounds, though, so a 25mm HEDP grenade would be the closest thing (though plenty of 25mm grenades are more advanced than most bolts). That would make space marine, and possibly battle sister, heavy bolter bolts similar to a high-velocity 40mm grenade such as the 40x53mm. Neither of those grenade rounds are self-propelled, but they're of approximately the right caliber and they are explosive, which is the closest you can come in terms of real-world ammunition right now.

In terms of tactical role matches, the M36 is analogous to any 5.56mm combat rifle, the heavy bolter is analogous to any heavy machinegun (not, I would argue, to an automatic grenade launcher), and the boltgun is analogous to ... well, nothing, really. The boltgun is plainly designed for close quarters battle, which makes it analogous to a submachine gun, but it has range comparable to and firepower greater than a general-issue combat rifle, which makes it analogous to nothing at all, since there is nothing presently existing that has greater firepower than a combat rifle but no more and no less range (and logically there can't be, unless you start dealing with explosive ammunition).

Combine a grenade launcher with a gyrojet rifle, including combining the ammunition types so that it launches at first like a bullet then activates the rocket after it leaves the barrel, and there you go.

AA12 Shotgun with Frag 12 rounds = Bolt pistol.

The FRAG-12 is about the right size for a civilian bolt weapon. About 28% too small for a space marine round (and of course it's not self-propelled blah blah blah).

Nothing pistol-like about the AA-12, though, or any other combat shotgun.

Ooh... Pretty...
As far as real life, a double barreled, 12 gauge shotgun is my favorite thing to shoot.
