Default GW step in the right direction?

Well, ive said before games workshop are going down the drain, models become more and more expensive and sales are going down and down. But it appears I have been proven wrong with the marketing team have finally discovered what marketing is, im shocked.
To being with the HH GW box set was a brilliant decision, giving FW products at a cheaper price with all options, and unless the rumors have any substance they seemed to of actually given a large discount on the product, not just click saving which im super pleased for. And now with the specialized games coming back I really think they could be on to a winning streak, bringing back old customers and possibly bringing in newer ones to help out.

But for all the positives you have to think of the negatives.
As far as my area goes AOS sold reasonably well, had a good reaction from customers who were fans of WH, other places I have seen not so well. Many sources saying how it was a failure that lost more people and money than it gained, and this could of been the case which is why they seemed to of realized that they cant keep selling premium price with no savings passed on to the customer. So as well as new discounts they have brought back BB and Epic (Amongst others) to get their old influence and reputation back on the market.

Personally I hope this isnt the case as they may of realized they have a possibility of getting into trouble a few years down the line, so they are taking precautions to avoid this outcome, but what I do hope is happening is that they are finally listening to what the people want and it can only improve with the future.

Respectfully disagree. Gw does not care what you think or want. The name of the game is business. If they think they will make money at it they will do it. If this happens to coincide with what you personally want, awesome, but I doubt the player base had a damn thing to do with it. The player base has proven time and again to be fickle, your whole post shows this.

I have to disagree, whilst I said I HOPE they are listening to the people are not possible financial trouble its still on my mind as the more likely option, but you have to think if not financial, why now? Why not a few years down the line, or with the old CEO? To truly not expect change for simple Cynicism is to always have doubts, while im not normally optimist or pessimist more of a half 'n half, I want to see the good in this. And so I shall.

    "Of" is not a verb.

As far as GW doing right by the customer base, that's what companies are supposed to do. I have a feeling any motivation for this has to do with dipping into Horus Heresy on multiple fronts. HH Epic? They'll hit it. HH Battlefleet Gothic? Printing money. Now will it potentially keep people who jumped off with the AOS train to jump back on as GW customers? Perhaps, but time will tell. More than anything it will depend on how they do it. Finecast BFG ships? Yeah no...

No company cares what their customer wants, caring what the customer wants is at best a marketing device and at worst a sure fire way to go in to liquidation while you try and appease morons.

Caring isn't permissible under late stage capitalism. GW are doing what they always have, selling toys. They're working a different angle to sell more toys, that it's what some people wanted due to nostalgia is beside the point, a happy coincidence. If they thought they could make more money putting a dead rat in every box, they'd do that too.

Also, finecast ships for BFG would be amazing, they were generally far too detailed to work well in metal, and slips in the mould were common and a massive disaster for the ships.

Finecast works now, they had teething troubles but the casts I've gotten recently in finecast have been top quality

"No company cares what their customer wants" This made me laugh and this is stupid and ignorant to think this a company cares what there customers want because that is what makes them customers to begin with...
Those who judge without reason are no better then the things they judge.

Path Walker, it seems you lack business acumen then, as companies produce whats customers want. It's called supply and demand. Find out what people want, make it profitable and then supply the masses. It's the reason why over half of Forgeworlds range is Imperium, as over half of 40k's players are imperium players.
Personally i think it's a mix of both points of view that have been highlighted recently in these type of threads. I think GW are now starting to listen however they are taking that feedback and putting it through the 'we are a model making company, not a gaming company' machine to see if can be delivered profitably.
I believe they'll be doing some sort of small format game box set such as the recent 40K packs (blood angel one, the pace wolf one etc...) and then solely focus on the production of a large scale range of models for the specialist game. Looking at Battle fleet, bloodbowl etc.... these are all 'coffee table top' games, so can relaunched and the focus on the range of models available.
If you also consider that in the recent new range of models (mechanicum) the only blister pack model (magos) retailed at £22, thats a gigantic profit margin on a model which everyone needed if you wanted to run a functional army. Take Bloodbowl as an example - any star play can be retailed that price and people would buy it (especially if they make rules truly OP, which is the current trend to make things sell in 40K). The only potential disappointment i can foresee is going to be Necromunda as it is such a scenery-centric game, i can't see GW investing good money in relaunching that, and improving the game (although i'm sure some of the new models they could produce would look amazing). .

In regards to the why, and I have nothing to back this up lol, is that with Fw cranking out HH and 40K kicking butt in sales they may be at the point financially to pull it off now.

Good on you for wanting to see the good side
