    Default 1000pts

My friend and I played 1000pts cruiser clash but allowed escourt squadrons etc.

We are still learning the rules so we did away with terrain to avoid complication.

    I had 1 Battle Barge, 6 Nova's and 5 Hunters

My friend had Gorbags revenge, 1 kill cruiser, 1 terror ship and some gunships and ram ships.

It was a big Melee but even so tactics and decision making really came into it. I really enjoyed the crippled rules, critical damage, catastrophic damage, gunnery chart, lance rules, movement and blast markers and more, not to mention the race specific rules or the amazing order rules. We had escorts bording each other, Drifting hulks hiding squadrons of Nova's from retaliation, ships on fire for several turns, massive broad sides at close range, Escort dogfights and Gorbags revenge eating marine escort squadrons one after the other.

The long and the short of it was that the Marines came out on top but both of us really enjoyed the game and could easily imagine in our minds eye what the rules were trying to convay. All the above and we barely even began to make full use of what the rules can allow you to do with all the other various senarios and terrain etc.

    I think Gothic is brilliant.

During this past Games Day I found a table where there were some guys playing Battlefleet Gothic. While "organizers" ended up being quite dis-functional and unorganized the game ended up being fun what little I was able to play. Since Games Day I have been creeping around forums and E-bay to find my self a cheap Imperial army that I can use as a fleet for my Sisters of Battle army that I am working on:-P.

I picked up a few models off e-bay on some auctions that were cheap but honestly have no idea what I need. At this point though I'm rather sure that locally no one actually owns any other models so its probably pointless. The only place I have seen selling the miniatures other than Games Day was The Wall in Western/Mid Mass.

My pal and I just bought the rule book and armada book each and then bought a fleet. You can get a 1000pt fleet from Gamesworkshop for about £50 and that seems to be a good place to start.

Get a friend to get into it with you! Incorporate a fleet game into a 40K campaign!

    Thumbs up

I am a huge fan of BFG and still get in the occasional game with some of my friends. I do like the model range, I would like the rules and what not to be a little better supported, but the fact that you can download the rules for free off the GW site ... is pretty unprecedented for GW's notioriously stingy selves.

Additionally, I would like to throw out that at the Baltimore GD 2010 the ForgeWorld presentation mentioned an upcoming Imperial Armour book which would have some additional BFG rules.

Awesome!!! I would probably play BFG if anyone near me does. PM me if you've heard of Armada Games...other than through the Jawaballs VBR.

    BFG is very much alive.

Warp Rift, unofficial fanzine, keeps going.

    New drafts:
    FAQ2010
    Space Marines
    Tau Kor'or'Vesh
    Rogue Traders
    Eldar Refits/haven

All official at a given point.
