Skitarii Omnispex Query

If you Attach an Independant Character to a Squad of Skitarii with an Omnispex would that character also have -1 to cover shen shooting?

e.g. take a Dominus Maniple, with a Dominus + Eradication Ray, Vanguard + Plasma Calivers, (and dunecrawler) attach the Dominus to the Vanguard and would the opposing squad get -1 to cover? bonus points to you if you have a Phosphor weapon as well (e.g. Kastellans with Phosphor Blasters as if they cause 1 wound for the rest of the turn they have -1 to cover saves...)
