Most interesting, and an entirely reasonable £20 for the lot. Dunno about you, but I'm totes in.

Chaos appears to now have 21 different Factions - as speculated in the main AoS board, this seems to be an attempt to prevent the game being seen as one with a high entry requirement for purchases. Lots of little factions of limited internal options, which can be combined willy-nilly. There's appeal theref for painters, gamers, collector and all the bright and brilliant shades in between.

Now, those factions eh?

About the only one I don't think I'm familiar with is Thunderscorn. General line of thinking is 'Dragon Ogres', which seems plausible enough. But hacving just checked their Warscroll on the AoS App, that's not a key word currently associated with them - so it could be something different?

It's a very interesting development. It'll be nice to see if the existing Warscrolls will be altered or if anything will go. My money was initially that we'd see anything thing finecast go but The Bloodbound did keep Valkia so that's out the window.

I would love to see a Dragon Ogre faction I'm a big fan.

True enough. It may be an excuse to mass-released something for everyone, allowing them to gap fill the Finecast out of the range as and when?

Also, the 'but how does my army fit in now?' question is the current biggie in AoS.

Oh, and ignore the sensationalist 'Slaanesh - back or not' drivel. In order to come back you need to have been away. Slaanesh hasn't. It's just interwebular nonsense.

I do hope the warscrolls are altered to remove any of the goofy rules. They felt like a slap in the face to people wanting to jump in with their existing armies, and early indicators were that when they made "proper" armies for AoS they wouldn't have that nonsense. So I'm hoping that with them putting the rules into a big combined book, they'll take the time to nix stuff like that.

It's cheap enough I'll grab a copy. I have a bunch of Daemons, Beastmen, tons of Skaven, and even some Warriors. Chaos Knights and Daemons charging into battle with Clan Skryre providing covering fire seems a bit cheeky, but heck, nothing is "taboo" in AoS, even running Archaon leading an army of Stormcast Eternals. (If I was a ludicrously rich man, I'd buy those models just to do that.)

The new Grand Alliance: Chaos seems to be a necessary step to have old and new chaos aligned factions in one Battletome, suits me as long as it gives space to other factions yet to come.

This looks like we get information on:

• Brayherds (Beastmen)
• Slaanesh
• Skaven
• Thunderscorn (Dragon-ogres)

Batallion Warscrolls for:

• Blood Host of Khorne
• Clan Skryre

Um... That's not a "batallion," that's a freaking ARMY for Skryre (and seeing "Skaven Skryre" above "Clan Skryre" makes me want to slap the editor). That's a bigger force than you were likely to field in WFB. I *might* be able to put it on the table, but I'm not sure, and I've got a pretty good selection of Skaven.

Blood Host of Khorne? Yeah, I've got that one handled, too. Plenty of Khorne Daemons. (Just need to get them swapped over to round bases, which will help them fit in better in my Daemonkin army anyway.)

I'm interested in seeing what the Skaven have, though reading some of the random word generator leakage on those pages is driving me nuts. I get that they want to trademark everything, but some of that stuff is unintelligible. "Masterclan" is meh but allowable. But "Whyrlblade Threshik" and "Rattlegauge Warplock Enginecovens" sound like a computer eating words and spitting them back out with random typos. That kind of stuff can't be making it easy for people to take the game seriously. Kind of like how people fluff off Beyond the Gates of Antares just for the one race that looks a little silly, or Kings of War demons for not looking Bosch-enough.

I know I said this before, but I can't remember if I said it here on BoLS or else where.

I wouldn't say it's cheap enough, I will say it's worth it. After all if we can afford $200 Canadian for a mini, paying GW prices for a book doesn't need to be cheap. At $80 or what ever GW was charging for their other books, I didn't find them worth it.

I don't know, after buying the 40K 6th edition rules for iPad and then 2 months later becoming invalid, it really makes me look real hard what is "worth" when it comes to GW books. Seeing a rules edition last less than 2 years, seeing how 40K codicies being replaced or having to buy more to use (Tau) in about 2 years and not know what GW plans for Age of Sigmar, I find little worth in their books at $80 or $100. $40 seems a little high but for $10 I am not going to complain especially at 300+ pages. Yes a lot of those pages can be gotten for free because GW releases the on their web site, but it's nice to have a paper version of them as well, so to me $40 is worth it but $100 is not worth it. so I never got the Sigmarine books.

Since I haven't bought any Sigmarine books, I haven't gotten into the fluff and history and therefore I can't be bothered. So I don't buy any minis. Now with Chaos, I will get the book, and now I am afraid I am going to buy more minis now because of this. I might actually be invested in the fluff and history of AoS. Then I will buy more minis because now I feel there is "worth" to the book and minis.
