    They're not so bad if used appropriately.

    But when they're just bandied around willy-nilly, all they achieve is to clarify the speaker/author is talking a load of old bollocks.

    And it's worse when their audience, out of fear they may be missing something and it actually did all make sense, simply nod and agree and congratulate the outside of the box bluesky, big ask, thinking...
