Can totally recommend attendance. It's far more relaxed than Gamesday used to be, but somehow feels like there's more to do.
That's good to know. Get near to the FW stand at Gamesday was, problematic.

Your upside down images. rotate them in the editing tools of an online hosting site. You or a mod are the ones that can do it and replace the originals

However the process of robo-insemination is far too complex for the human mind!

No, the point was that saying they don't do female miniatures because they are somehow harder as they are all lithe and graceful is ridiculous.
That thinking is rubbish because there are the Wood Elf, Dark Elf, Eldar, and Dark Eldar lines (and arguably parts of the Tau & undead lines) as well as the LoTR range that show delicate miniatures in plastic are very possible. And not to mention the huge variance in male figures put out by GW - not all are hulking brutes in power armour but they don't struggle to put them out.

My point was that thinking for a model to be feminine, or coded female that they must be lithe, graceful and slim is crap.

As EG posted Zarya is clearly female, and she isn't exactly lithe. I'm really not sure what your point is with bearded women or all that - like are you saying "you could kinda replicate her with existing parts"? Because if that is so you're missing the point. Saying "well if you put in a lot of work you can kind of make your own representation if you squint hard enough" is weak. They're the self proclaimed best mini company in the world but they can't sculpt women? Please.

It's things like in animation where they say it's hard to make women look different in their style yet somehow manage to make all the men look totally unlike each other:

    (more here)

It's the fact that women are represented as either young (<25 years old), slim (no evident muscle mass*), and conforming to western beauty standards - or they are old crones - or they are portly one offs, often matronly but also used as ogre analogues. As an example Toughest Girls In The Galaxy, who have solved the lithe, graceful sculpting problem, have a grand total of two adult female miniatures (to my knowledge) who are lacking supermodel physiques:

It should also be noted that the first model is called Kiki Bulldozer and is a "bio-experiment survivor"... so the only way to be overweight is for it to be the result of an experiment...

It's also things like the Blood Bowl human team is all male. Are women not human anymore? A little hyperbolic but when representation for women is a specialist extra (if there is any) is sure feels like it. And on that topic here is a great photo series of different women athletes:

(well worth opening in a new window if you can't see it properly)

So a huge variance in builds even amongst hyper fit women, yet so many women's BB teams look like this:

So yeah, the problem isn't that that scultping women is hard, it's that the sculptors think women can only look a certain way and that their existence (like that of anyone who isn't a central/western European white person) is totally optional.

*the DE kits slightly subvert this, but given the bare arms are used on both the male and female models I am highly sceptical of it being intentional.

And as a final side note, I find it hilarious (in a terrible way) that FW seems to be making stuff for The Hobbit, which I can't really see being in any sort of demand, yet have to my knowledge produced a single female miniature in their entire existence.

'Male miniatures are who I want to be; female miniatures are who I want to f**k.'

No-one will ever say this, but I'm 99% certain this is the reason behind...

Well, I was going to say 'wargaming design principles' but honestly, I think you could basically apply it to almost everything ever created by heterosexual male artists, who are the ones responsible for the vast majority of the aesthetic decisions we consume.

The exceptions (like, say the 'ugly' female/orc models) feels a little like 'the gentleman doth protest too much'.

'No, no I don't want to fap to them all! Look at this one! I'd never fap to her!'

But of course, secretly he does.

Sigh, if only we had a separate thread for this sort of thing. 🙄

Mostly this. I don't imagine there's many none white/male figure designers in GW.

Sad thing is, GW aren't even all that bad at making female sculpts.

Wyches/Witch Elves? Background reasons - bare flesh to tempt the blade, and to feel the blood of the foe. Other female Elf/Eldar models are well proportioned and not that ridiculously FEMALEBCOZBEWEBSCANYOUSEETHEBEWEBSI'VENEVERACTUALL YSEENPROPERBEWEBSSOI'MWORKINGFROMMYOVERACTIVEIMAGI NATIONOFWHATBEWEBSACTUALLYAREILIKEBEWEBSBUTGIRLSSA YNO

SoB/Sisters of Sigmar/Sisters of Silence? Again, hardly '13 year old' views of wimmins. Even the Sisters Repentia aren't alluringly posed, despite their lack of garments.

Compare to other companies, particularly 3rd party one where the women all seem to have a horrific, likely crippling deformity of the spine and two footballs up their shirts.

    Everything has a place Kirsten.

I was going to repurpose one of those "I don't like it when it's not about me" meme from the feminist/LGBT threads. But that would be unnecessarily snarky and to be fair to you, you are both female and post lots of good hobby stuff so I would give more respect to your opinions than that.
