Eh. Their phones are cheap and functional.
Read the above in a Tachikoma voice.
Went to the park yesterday to try out the game.
I figured there'd be a few other Pokemon players there, but I didn't quite expect it would be everyone. Obviously all those folks seated between two pokestops with lures on both are all playing, but I didn't expect the middle aged women to be discussing various rarities. The small children are taking turns on the swings because they only have one phone between them.
So, the world has changed.
I expect that in a few years, I'll start getting requests for Pokemon themed cake toppers from the people who met via the app.

I'm looking forward to being able to swap Pokémon and items. There's a method to request Pokéstops, so I'm hoping the children's ward near me will get one, so I can send them Lure modules

At my office, I'm always trying to get people to leave the building on breaks and at lunch time, its good for their health and all that. Since Pokemon Go hit, its working, people aren't taking their breaks in the break room and sitting down on awful sofas, loads of people are going out, we have about 10 Poke-stops within a mile of the office and 2 gyms, each about 5 minutes walk away. People are walking around, talking to each other. I hope it lasts.
So my office is a gym and there are three stops that I can reach without moving. Its not a safari it's fishing...

Yup.
Walked to pub last night, and home. And I had a damned good wander about until my battery died.
This is quite possibly a sea-change in our society, or at least the beginnings of one. I'm getting way more exercise, seeing more of my town, meeting new people. Best of all? Lots and lots of 'Dads and Lads' out Pokémon hunting, together. Mums too, but I was particularly struck by the father/son bonding.
