@Psychosplodge: Cheers man! And yeah, a lot of it all comes down to personal taste. XD To each their own and all that, heh.

@Sauragnmon: Thank you! And yeah, nothing worse than magnets that aren't quite strong enough to hold things securely. Sometimes I'll even double-up on magnets if I've got the room to sink a pair in, instead of just one. I'm not currently planning on getting any FW weapons for this guy, but I'll definitely keep your advice in mind if I do in the future, thanks!

Anyway, finally finished this guy, whew! Now I can get back to all my Thousand Sons-related projects. XD

And apart from that, I've done a bit more work on the Imperial knight - I cut up the left leg for some re-posing and started building the base:

Everything's still just blu-tack'd in place atm. I think I'm going to need to do some more adjustments to the left ankle to straighten up the leg a bit so the knight's not quite so splay-footed. Thoughts?

I've also started a bit on the Burning of Prospero box, to nobody's surprise ever. The height of Ahriman's nasal crest was seriously bugging me, so I shortened it. XD Still needs a little bit of cleaning up, but I'm happier with it this way.

Gotta admit, I'm kind of tempted to leave Bjo-- I mean uh Geigor in pieces like this... maybe scattered over Ahriman's base...

It would've been really cool if GW had put Othere Wyrdmake as the other character in the BoP box instead of Geigor. Ah, well.

I know the feeling. I had to get.. creative with some of the magnetizing on my Styrix - they haven't given me the liberty of using Volkite weapons in 40K, so I went a little further and made it so I could swap the Forgeworld weapons for Standard ones. Being that the lower arms (below that rotation joint) are one of what I call "Control Bits" - the pieces that you Can't get around, that are numerically restrictive in a kit, like Space Marine Torso Backs (the fronts have variations, the legs, the backpacks, but the fixed number in a kit is most often the BACK of the torso, so a box will, by default, only build X number of Marines).

What I did is I set magnets into the elevation joint (Elbow-ish piece) on both sides so that there's a magnetic bond and I simply slot the weapon of choice into that joint. After that, with the gun arm I partial-pinned the elevating pistons to prevent the cannon slumping in its bond, and the piston on the melee arm is set up so it supports the claw/blade as well.

Loving that Slaughterpriest, looking forward to your work on Azhek. I had a Thousand Sons phase years back.. in fact my first plastic Dread, converted to Chaos, was Thousand Sons in the beginning, part of what got him the nickname Big Blue.

@Psychosplodge: He is indeed! Thank you!

@Sauragnmon: Yeah, I did something similar with magnetising my first Contemptor - magnets in the elbow joints as well as the bicep and shoulder - partly for the weapon swapping, and partly for poseability. XD Thousand Sons have been my first, main, and only army, and it's their fluff that really got me into the 40k hobby fully. They'll always be my priority focus (though if Sisters of Battle really do come out in plastic, they may get some competition! XD)

Anyway, only a small update this week - I've started painting Ahriman, yay!

I'm still working on the red (it does NOT photograph well, ugh), need to darken some areas and up the contrast a bit.

And man, with all the Thousand Sons-related releases coming out soon, I think I might need to start trying to squeeze in more than one painting session a week...

Bit more progress on Ahriman. Hayfever attacks suck butt and make it very hard for me to focus on much for long, blargh.

Still trying to decide what colours to use for his cloak. Tabard and dangly bits will be cool white. Pondering just doing the whole cloak the same cool blue-white, but also considering doing the outside of the cloak a different colour. Not a fan of the purple that sometimes gets used though. Maybe just a dark blue?

    Thoughts?

A little more progress on Ahriman! Mostly working on the cloth today, though I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but oh well.

Tried something different for the back of his cloak! An attempt at a starry night sky nebulae.

So what do you all think of the cloak? Yea or nay?

    Yes that cloak is brilliant.
