@Psychosplodge: Thank you!

    So, progress! I recently acquired one of those little ribbed-tube-rolling things from Greenstuff World, and my initial use of it was to make the first connector thing for my jetbike guy (it really bugs me that these guys don't have backpacks like wtf). I still need to make the one for the other side, that's probably going to be fiddly as hell but oh well, I'll manage it somehow!

    And some more progress on painting the Tartaros Librarian:

    I'm pretty pleased with how the gold came out. I'm not sure what to go for with painting the force weapon, though. Leaning towards a purple-tinged blue for colours, but I'm still trying to decide what style to paint it in. Metallic with blue-purple tinting? Blue crystal? Lightning? Something else? Any suggestions or ideas, anyone? Let me know what you think!

    You're welcome, I wish I could sculpt, but I'm not really willing to put the required time in to learn *shrugs*

    Though I think I'll probably have a good browse of that tool website anyway

    Oh man, there is NEVER enough time! XD So many models, so little time... But I swear, at least when it comes to sculpting, 75% of that time is just waiting for the putty to dry! It's a LOT easier if you just work a little bit at a time, and work in layers and small steps. For example, that last pic of the jetbike! I COULD have attempted to do both of the cables at once... but that would have risked squashing parts I'd already done. I'd also only rolled out one cable beforehand, and let that cure first before I attached it to the model itself. I've got a second cable rolled out and cured, waiting to be attached now that everything else is dry.

    A lot of sculpting is also just whacking on the putty in an approximation of what you want, letting it dry... and then shaping it further by carving it with a hobby knife and sanding it down with various grades of sandpaper. It makes it a lot easier to get a nice neat clean shape! Less frustrating, too. And if you accidentally take away too much, just slap some more putty on, let it dry, and try again!

    It's a nifty little site! I was very tempted by some of the base-making rollers, but right now I have nothing I'd use them on, alas. Maybe one day!

    It really is, I think! XD I believe a lot of trouble that ppl have when they first try sculpting is just trying to do too much at once (which I have also been guilty of!). Small steps and patience is one of the keys! Having to wait for those small steps to dry first before continuing does drag out the time it takes, but it really does make things overall a lot easier. Maybe give it a try sometime! If there's anything specific you want to do, I might be able to give some pointers/steps, too.

    I think I'll apply what you've already said to gap filling, covering iconography and the like and see how I go. That's what I mostly use green stuff for, but it might mean that one day I get a smooth shoulder pad

    Sounds like a plan! XD Good luck with it, and I definitely recommend getting a few grades of fine sandpaper to help you out on that smooth shoulderpad quest!

    Okay, almost done! I decided to go with a blue crystal kind of blade in the end. Still need to finish up some details and add the freehand, but he's nearly complete!

    Rather nice blade. Are you adding more to the blade or the overall model?

    Thanks! I still need to wash the gold detailing on the blade to make it match the rest, and I also still need to finish off his base properly, paint the jade scarab on his right pauldron, edge highlight the red armour, and then add the free-hand detailing like his legion symbol.

    Still, he's getting close to done!
