    Default perry brothers ACW plastics

I was thinking of getting a box of Perry Brothers civil war infantry because I want to give my imperial guard forage caps and slouch hats, unfortunately the heads are not separate from the rest of the models, only the hats are separate.

Have any of you tried using these plastics with imperial guard? do you guys think that it is worth it, or should I just buy sets of separate heads?

I also was thinking of picking up a set of the cavalry, as they seem great for cheap rough rider conversions.

    tell me your thoughts.

I like Perry Miniatures. I haven't used their Civil War plastics, but their models are lovely and reasonably priced, and they are a pleasure to deal with.

As for whether or not it's worth it to get the models just for the heads, you'll probably have a difficult time separating the heads from the bodies and getting them to fit well on the GW models. I expect that it's doable, but if you're doing a lot of infantry models it could be more of a hassle than it's worth.

On the other hand, I do think Perry's Civil War plastics are a great buy for an IG army. I've converted some of Perry's plastic British Line Infantry into conscript squads and they come out rather nicely. From what I've seen, it looks like the Civil War models could easily be dressed up as imperial guardsmen and the price per model is a bargain compared to GW. Some weapon conversions, a few aquilas, and a little kit bashing would bring them well within the realm of 40K.

yeah, I was thinking of giving the civil war infantry catachan heads, and using them as either penal legion squads or conscripts with a counts-as chenkov waving a sword with his hat on it.

The box of civil war troops seems like a no-brainer... Even if you dont have a plan for the entire model, the bits value of it seems to be way higher than the 25 bucks their asking

I like the look of the new plastic Napoleonic Heavy Calvary for rough riders for one of the more dressy IG armies, Mordian, Vostroyan, something like that

I like that idea- though I'm not a fan of the ACW aesthetic. It's far too hastily put together and shoved out there (the aesthetic; the models are awesome). If you want dapper-looking soldiers, French or British during the Napoleonic wars make for very impressive soldiery. The French Cuirassiers from Perry Brothers look like they'd make excellent Rough Riders- in fact I'm planning on doing it.
