    Default Understanding point costs

    Hello all,

Got my rulebook and Imperial 1 and 2 four hours ago. Finally!

So looking through Imperial 1 and 2, and I have some questions regarding point costs.

    For Example1:
    Baal Predator is 107points.
On page 103, it states the Baal predator comes equipped with a twin linked *** Cannon. Is this included in the 107 point cost? Or does one have to spend 35points (page 204) for the twin linked *** cannon, effectively meaning the Ball Predator costs 142points?

    For Example 2:
Dante, page 90. States that Dante is equipped with an Axe Mortalis, Inferno pistol, frag and krak grenades. Where is his jump pack? or do you have to still purchase this? If so, does this mean you have the option to field Dante without a JP, and potentially mount him in a rhino or razorback with a squad? I cannot find the point cost for the Axe Mortalis? or this included in Dante's 215points cost (page 212). If the Axe is included in the 215point, then does one still pay 20points for the inferno pistol (page 212), or is the inferno pistol free of charge?

Just trying to understand point costs for mini/units/characters.

in the pages for points look at the points lists for the models. at the top of the list it will say if the points are inclusive of wargear or not. generally you need to purchase the wargear for the model separately (including the cost of things like a stormbolter on top of a rhino/predator). often special characters will be included in a separate table of points, at the top of which will state if wargear points are included or not if they are then there is no need to pay points for all the wargear they carry as that has been already factored into their costs...

    Hello.

Ok thanks. Still a little unsure. In the eldar section a dark reaper costs 5 points. I assume this does not include the reaper launcher. Thus that's an additional cost per model for the reaper launcher.

In the necron section destroyers cost 43points. Does this include the guass cannon or not? If not thats another 20points per model.

Just trying understand what you need to pay for and what you do not need to pay for in points.

From what I can see the Dark reaper costs 5 points (at the top of the list with the dark reaper in - it states that this cost does not include wargear, all of these points lists include this or a note saying that it does include points e.g. special characters - see the top of the shorter list). the cost of a reaper launcher is 31 points, leading to a total of 36 points per model.

the Necron Destroyers cost 43points and the cannons cost 20, leading to a totasl cost of 63 points per model.

however you only pay for the final waepons and wargear that a model has.

e.g. a space marine has a bolter, and decides to swap for a plasma gun. pay the costs for the marine & the plasma gun only.
e.g. Dark reaper Exarch has a Reaper Launcher, swaps this to a tempest Launcher, pay the costs for the Exarch (dark Reaper) & the Tempest Launcher only.

The key is what sort of game you are playing. If it is matched play (I think that is what full points is called), there is a box out in the book that clearly states you must cost everything.

This is why power levels is a rough guide.
I'M RATHER DEFINATELY SURE FEMALE SPACE MARINES DEFINERTLEY DON'T EXIST.

The one that has flumoxed me is the cost of Eldar jet bikes now. Especially for Warlocks and the like. A Warlock cost 30 points, plus 7 for say his witch blade, plus 40 for his jet bike, and because the list does not specify the armament on a jet bike, 10 points for the Twin (Not linked anymore) Shuriken Catapults. So your basic Warlock on a JB = 87 points or 94 if armed with a singing spear. That is a lot for one model with a reduced armour save, psychic capacity and can now be picked off as a single model, (Just watch out for snipers, the nearest model rule don't apply). And your standard Windrider Squadron of 4 without heavy weapons has doubled from 68 to 120 points while still losing points in Ld, Sv and movement.

There is some trade off as well. Storm Guardians are two points less, but if you take assault weapons the points advantage is lost because they have almost doubled in price but are subtly less effective.

Meh, got to rework the load out. Probably 3 Wraithlords, 3 Wave Serpents, Scorpions, Guardians and an Autarch. Should get in under 1500.

Try understanding what you need or don't need to pay
