    Default Get the picture ?

    If there is one thing that has puzzled me, it is the standard of pictures that are presented in the stories and commentary in BOLS. Even the professionally prepared photos regularly seem to get it wrong with close ups from above figures rather than, as it were, at eye level. The colour, crispness of image etc is all good, but I think they lose something by shooting down at the figure. So I thought I would post a couple of shots to show what I mean;

    Now these are just works in progress but do you see what I mean? By getting down to their level with the camera and switching to "Macro" you get detail and depth in a picture and a certain amount of dynamism from the figure that you lose as the camera rises above it. Of course for those panoramic army shots the height is what you need.

    Here are a couple more, with a little depth or in your face

    Of course you tend to highlight your painting mistakes. But there is no special skill required, just switch to macro and get in close and have the light behind you.
