Default Cover save from Pistols while in CC?

So pistols can shoot at units within 1" of your unit in the Shooting Phase.
The cover rule states you get no cover saves in the Fight Phase.

So if I shoot my Pistols in the Shooting Phase at the unit I am in CC with, they get the cover save (assuming they qualify for it)?

Seems like it, as long as they are "entirely on or within a terrain feature." Good catch!

But how can they be in cover from a unit that is engaged with them ? after pile in moves the units will have blended a bit more and moved past walls. If you are in woods then you both are. I don't see how a unit could be in cover from the unit it is engaged with. However, you might get it from another unit shooting with pistols that is not engaged yet.

The firing unit's positioning doesn't make any difference. Note the rule - it doesn't say anything about any other unit but the one seeking cover:

"If a unit is entirely on or within any terrain
feature, add 1 to its models’ saving throws
against shooting attacks to represent the
cover received from the terrain (invulnerable
saves are unaffected). Units gain no benefit
from cover in the Fight phase (pg 182)."
