I don't recall GW ever doing anything like that, but it is Chaos we are talking about and both need it moreso than almost any other codices.

I believe that the first image is actually a Bloodletter, note the shape and curve of the horns, as well as the seemingly identical figure on the left.

The image before the Plaguebearer and after the Bloodletter/Daemon Prince is exceedingly difficult to spot, because it flashes much quicker than any of the others and it is faded. Still, if you look closely, it is the Soul Grinder on the cover of the Daemons codex.
