Default Tau Allies - Last few points

Currently I'm working on an Eldar list that I hope to be pretty solid revolving around 10 wraithguard, Eldrad, a Fortunseer, and a Tau Commander.

With that said I'm Definitely taking a tau commander with stuff (Ie vectored thrust for the Hit and Run) 24 Fire Warriors, and I have 240 - 250 points left over...

So I'm trying to Figure out if I should go with one of three options:

3 Broadsides with Blacksun Filters and one shield Drone
    or
    3 Sniper Teams
    or
5 Stealth Suits with 5 gun drones and a blacksun filter

The question that I know is going to be raised is how much AT do I have... well, I have 10 wraithguard and 2 falcons and lots of STR6 shooting through bikes and the falcons.

Currently I'm leaning toward the sniper teams as its 12 models with all the stealth goodness and 3 markerlights for the Firewarriors, plus its 3 separate units to deal with. But I've never used sniper teams before and have no idea of their effectiveness.

You generally can't go wrong with broadsides, they're probably your best bet here but the stealth suits are pretty good too. The Snipers are a bit lackluster but they did get a bit of a boost in 6th. You now only need one blacksun filter per unit unless you want redundancy.

Very true... but its still the cheapest hard point option for Broadsides... the only other one I might find points for is the multitracker but I'm not sure how necessary that would be

    Broadsides. Broadsides. Broadsides.

Sniper teams don't have the sniper rule.

Stealth Suits are nice, but I would go with a XV8 team. You get double the punch and twice the range for 1/2 the points. for 100pts you get a team of 2 w burst cannons and missile pods. 125pts and you can add a team leader, bonding knife, blacksun filter, or a drone or two.

But all around? Take the Broadsides. Their Smart Missile Systems ignore night fight without the BSF. 2+ armor save. 4+ invuls from the shield gen/shield drone, and tough... Their weakness? Poor morale and bad in close combat, but you're still pumping out S10 AP1 TL shots of nastiness

Heh, its for those reasons I was thinking the sniper teams...

They also have a 2+ save in Cover due to the changes of 6th, they have 9 Str6 AP3 shots that you can fire at three different targets and 3 markerlights. And, effectively, 4 more wounds. And, they are more survivable against Str8+ AP2.

And remember that I have a points budget of 250 pnts... 3 broadsides with shields and shield drones is 80+ points higher than I can pay.

You could always drop a Falcon to make room for the Broadsides. I've never used them myself, but I have a feeling fire prisms are generally a better choice. Longer range, better BS and cheaper.

    Try this,

Team Leader with ,H/W Blacksun Filter,H/W Drone Controller, Shield Generator, two Marker Drones
    Broadside with Shield Generator

Probably the best tank hunting unit in the game, two multi-wound models with 2+/4+. Two Networked Markerlights and a pair of TL Railguns.

As far as sniper Teams, there may be less useful units in the codex but that's debatable.

I really like this idea... thanks!

Another piece of wargear that is now valid/awesome for broadsides is stabilizers, give them shield drones for the 4++ and then they can use their full 6" movement to get the best LOS and still shoot!

That's basically how I run my broadsides. Two Shas'Ui with Muti-trackers and a team leader with a bonding knife, HW BSF, HW DC + x2 Shield drones, and a multi-tracker.

I think a unit of three with all that kit is 265pts

I'm not so hot on the sniper drones. Yes you have a good cover save and a markerlight that hits on a 3+, but have you given any thought to Sensor Towers or tetras?

Tetras give 4 mobile marker shots ea., come standard with a Dis Pod, and can be given target arrays and BSF's and still come in at 65pts/model

Sensor towers are 40pts ea (if I remember correctly) have a 4+ TL markerlight AND remote sensor suite rule which can allow one infantry unit per tower to have their shots count as TL.
