A simple addition of a dozer blade really spruces up the old kit. Those old spike bars I always thought were pretty hideous.

Put it on a base, 1/8 inch mdf board brings it right up to about the right size.

I'd say do it. I am fiddling around with some old rhinos myself, and I'm just using old MMO subscription cards for plastic card (I have thicker card, just wanted to see how it would work recycled, they were a little bit too thin in retrospect). I'll prob leave gaps so that mine look like ad-hoc spaced extra armor but no reason that I can think if that you couldn't make some with smooth edges and try to emulate the new rhino armor.

I have an old rhino in my marine army that I altered by adding the guard track guards to the top of the side sections. You have to cut the inner lips off them but it does help to slightly enlarge the hull of the thing. It's packed up for a game at the mo but if you want a pic I can get one up here at some point.

    Thanks.

Increasingly, I think, it looks like I haven't got much to be worried about. The old model is smaller, but not that much smaller. If I make it a little broader with the home made extra armor kit and a little taller with an extra layer of plasticard on top of the tracks - like the guard track guards, but home made - it will be fine. A little smaller, sure, but not absurdly so.

A lot of my concern is based on seeing a friend's Rogue Trader era metal predator. That's a ridiculously small model. I don't think I'm going to have the same problem here.

I thought the predator was on the same chassis?

However the process of robo-insemination is far too complex for the human mind!

It is, but I think the metal one I saw was even older, and even smaller, than the ancient but plastic one I just bought on eBay.

There was the two, the square turreted one looked a lot bigger than the old tiny plastic domed thing.

I didn't know they did a rogue trader era one.
