They were kind of annoying characters but how else was he supposed to set the plot to lead to 4-6, my biggest problem was Hayden Christensen's acting in 2-3, though Jar-Jar's character was way over the top for what it needed to be for his part in the plot, so he'd be a close second. I think Lucas was trying to get kids more involved with Jar-Jar.

I consider him more of a director than a writer, maybe he should've gotten one of the fan writers to help him out...

Jar Jar had no plot use! He was there entirely as a draw to kids (i.e. a commercial one). They even admitted this. And then insulted existing fans by claiming that we didn't get Jar Jar because we weren't kids.

Jar-Jar was there to be duped by palpatine into proposing that crazy legislation that got him all the power. They just needed someone to be kind of dumb and easily manipulated.

The video/song was funny. As for Jar-Jar, while the idea of the character and his role in the Star Wars Universe was "needed." I still found the way Jar Jar was portrayed was insulting to the existing fan base. Definitely, over the top, could have been toned down a bit.

Say what you will about the rest of the movie, Liam Neeson was the best Jedi. Ever.

The old 'I can barely walk' Yoda, or the 'I'm a flipping ninja monkey' Yoda?

No Luke Skywalker was the best Jedi ever, just not in the films...
