Default Question concerning Tau and twin-linked weapons

So in my codex, written for 5th edition, on page 25, it says that a twin-linked battlesuit weapon system counts as two battlesuit weapon systems (a crisis suit may have a total of three weapon systems)

But the 6th edition book, on page 43, says that a twin-linked weapon counts as one weapon.

    Who wins?

Could you please specify in what respect you want it to be counted as one weapon?

It counts as two weapons for the purpose of filling your three weapon systems and as one weapon for firing.
So if you have a teamleader with twin plasmsa, a fusion blaster and a hard-wired multishot-thingy (don't know the name, don't play tau) you have your 3 weapon systems but they only count as two different weapons for firing them.

    You're confusing two different factors.

Two battlesuit weapons of the same kind count as two weapons for the purposes of filling the battlesuit's available weapon slots. However, they count as a single weapon for purposes of shooting weapons. The only way in which that rule continues to interact with Tau rules is that you can use a hard-wired multi-tracker to fire a twin-linked weapon as well as another weapon.

ie. Exactly what CridiDeal said .

A twin-linked weapon counts as a single weapon only for purposes of how many weapons a model can fire. The twin-linked system still eats up 2 of the 3 available hardpoints. It's similar to how a model could carry a 2-handed CC weapon and an additional 1-handed (or even another 2-handed) CC weapon, but he can't gain the bonus attack for having 2 CCWs because he has to use both hands for the 2-hander.
Thank you for voxing the Church of Khorne, would you like to donate a skull to the Skull Throne today?
