    Default Heavy D-scythes

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!

Sorry, I just needed to get that out there. This post is pretty much just a rant, not a rules conundrum.

Who honestly thought that those stats represent a "heavy" version of the normal d-scythe?

Same Strength and AP, ok, I can get behind that. It works for plasma weapons, after all. But a small blast? When the non-heavy version is a template? Not only does it lose the Ignores Cover that is the d-scythe's greatest strength, it's less accurate and even when it does hit bang-on it's probably going to cover fewer models.

    ---

I can just about maybe understand the Hemlock having a pair of short-ranged, weak Distort weapons and nothing else, in a "sure why not" kind of way, but why in Vaul's name are they called "heavy d-scythes"?

Be thankful that the Hemlock has some guns.

You would think they would just be D-Scythes with Torrent. Such a failure of a plane. It would be great if they had Flickerfields like the Dark Eldar ones, then at least they could fire rather than inevitably having to evade the stiff breeze aimed at them.

Yea, one of the few dissapointmets in the codex.

Just make them torrent templates and all is gravy. The planes power is offset by its fragility.

Maybe next year when they count how many models they haven't sold they will issue an update to make those things Torrent templates. Then we'd see some on the tables...and more Quad Guns to Intercept them!

Quad-Guns aren't so much the problem. We can alpha-strike Quad-Guns. It's the fact that any high rate of fire shooting is a threat. Heck, Fire Warriors scare the crap out of it, let alone anything stronger!

Just give them both the same fields as Nightwings, or Flickerfields like DE have.

Yeah, that was my biggest disappointment. The Eldar, with their super-advanced technology and flyers that are the scourge of the Imperial air force, have no defensive enhancements AT ALL. Not eve improved Jinking or anything, just AV10 and a prayer.
