Using the "go advanced" option might be bypassing it.

Dakka used to have that I think. Depends on how long after the last post you post....if that makes sense (should do!)
If it's a couple of minutes, it auto-amended the existing post. If a few hours, new post was added. I guess it prevents spamming.
