looking at some termie based tru-scale marines and am looking at converting up an imperial fist, was wondering what base terminators people have used for theirs, looking at running it along side some HH marines so not sure what works best.
cheers

I'm a bit thick this morning... are you looking for the specific Termie parts to use to make a Truescale marine or are you looking to make Truescale Termies?

Tartaros terminator legs would be great for heresy true scale marines.

looking to make true scale marines using termie parts.
im liking the idea of the tartaros for some of the models im planning, the MKiv based ones, but not sure what would work for MKiii based marines
You'll have to use thin plasticard strips (or Greenstuff) to replicate the banding on the legs of Mk II or Mk III Armour. I would use a mix of both to get the effects.

rather than use cataphractii legs or similar?
cataphractii would be good for Mk III I think

All depends on how picky you want to be.
Here's a random pic of the back of a Cataphractii Termie
And here is the Mk III Back view
Mk II is even worse in that you have a similar back view:
But a banded front as well.
I think the Cataphractii legs would make a passable version of Mk III legs. If you wanted to go nuts you could carve out the center area and add the detail to match the marine legs.
Whatever you do most people are so amazed at the scale of big marines they fail to notice a lot of the details anyhow. You'll always be your own biggest critic.
Have fun with the big guys. I have 100+ Space Wolves at this point. I'm starting to build the next 30 toward a new Chapter. I may go with Deathwatch or Legion of the Damned for giggles. It's a lot of work but can be a fun side project to keep revisiting over the months/years.
