Don't worry, it's come out that this was just Internet trolls being trolls. (That much should have been obvious to start with, but hey, the news is slow to catch up sometimes.)

Poe's Law in action, really. Nobody would be at all surprised if those comments were made in all seriousness, so they were treated as such. After all, they're very similar to the comments made after Edris Alba was announced as playing the character of Heimdal in the Thor movies, and that wasn't a bunch of trolls.

yeah sadly it seems there are some truly legitimate hate-mongers out there.

I'm still not convinced much of it was genuine. Some, yes. Others, not so convinced. And the hashtag exploded as well thanks to people ripping it and media reporting on it.

There's always going to be some genuine hateful people, though. In all cultures, all races, religions, genders, etc. Just the way it is with humanity. Thankfully they're few in number and often wouldn't get noticed until people point them out. Unfortunately, this time, people not only put a spotlight on them, but also acted with indignant rage and all, rather than properly mocking them and laughing at their stupidity like should have happened. It's easier to believe you're some "righteous minority" if people are angry with you, not as easy to seriously hold your position if people are laughing at you.

That happened with Star Wars as well lol. The novel Aftermath included some gay characters and of course women andthere was a concerted campaign to sabotage the amazon reviews and stuff to complain about the SJWs ruining Star Wars. Because Luke Skywalker was all about harassment and oppression.

Edit: Oh and people who thought Rey must be Finns love interest (because that is the only reson to have a female lead) and therefore the movie was condoning interracial marriage which as we all know = white genocide.

I gave it 4 out of 5 - because it doesn't let you do half stars. Proper rating is 3.5.

I'd give it 4, but I like Wendigs style and I know a lot of people don't which is fair enough.
