    Default This amused me

Opened the November 7 issue of Entertainment Weekly. It has an article about the new Terminator movie. This picture stood out though:

Yes that's Matt Smith, former Doctor Who, firing what looks like a 40K Flamer. I think my nerd mind exploded.

A Red Dot Sight on a flamer? Just why?

Here's hoping Skynet rolls out some Titans, though!

    Because it's 40K style?

Seriously, I've been painting some Sororitas, and was surprised to discover that they put scopes on all their flamers.

It's 40K. Rule of Cool > common sense.

Flamethrowers fire a stream of burning fuel, not a cone like a dragon. I guess in 40k the template represents them sweeping the stream across the enemy.

Yeah, that's how I imagined Torrent weapons, at least. Firing at an angle into the air to spread the flames over a distant enemy.

I've been on the road and finally had time to really look at the models and Im pretty sure thats not a scope but Locke weapon pattern targeter similar to those used by Arbites. It would hook into a visor/retinal implant.

    That's awesome.

However I'm going to have to try and mind-wipe myself before seeing it. Otherwise I'll keep expecting to see the Tardis appear.
