Default Forgeworld contradicting 'No heresy' - what's the masterplan....?

Everyone has now seen a return of Chuck, and the MkI LR - now the rhino. The pre-heresy era jump packs et al flourish.

This flies in the face of a 'no heresy policy' by GW.

So what does it mean?

Several options:

1. GW mincing their words pedantically:

a. They will release PRE-heresy campaign.

b. GW won't release Heresy - but FW will....

2. GW closing the loop on all the rip-off merchants who can't imagine their own IP sorry I mean 3rd party parts companies.

3. GW just plain lying - never say never - they realise that a Heresy campaign would sell like sun factor 500000000 in fukushima and boy will they milk it.

4. A mix of some or all of the above.

I would like to hear your opinions - and also if you claim fact, please back with source...
I'M RATHER DEFINATELY SURE FEMALE SPACE MARINES DEFINERTLEY DON'T EXIST.

Games Workshop will probably never do Horus Heresy, but Forge World have said they will (eventually). It makes sense, you don't want kids buying their pre-heresy stuff and then fighting against Tyranids, Tau etcm it would be silly. But having pre-Heresy kits and then a pre-Heresy book lets veterans and whatnot have their pre-Heresy armies and campaigns without upsetting the balance of the regular game.

Yes, I know FW is part of GW but the design studios are seperate an do their own thing, so it is a valid distinction in this regard.

These kits don't really indicate that anyhing Horus Heresy related is coming... Older, first founding Chapters like the Blood Angels and the Salamanders would likely have some of these older vehicles in their armory.

Some players like the look of the heresy-styled stuff from the horus heresy artbooks. Forgeworld made some specialist minis for those who do. No big deal, really.

I figure that Forgeworld is for the veteran players. People new to the hobby dont start death korps of krieg armies.

So Forgeworld create the models the veterans want. And we are all very grateful. I agree with wittdooley, 1st founding chapters would have old armour and vehicles in their armoury. However all the Forgeworld models are in the Astral Claws colour scheme, which means that later founding chapters also get some of these older varients turning up n their armouries. Either they are leftovers from forge worlds that never got sent out to the first funding chapters for use before the heresy, they are repainted from their parent chapters colour scheme, or some forgeworlds and marine armouries are still producing older varients of armour for whatever reason. I think it might be a little of all three. In the case of the Red scorpions and their favour of the MK IV maximus armour.

And if eldargals right it means that forgeworld are already set up ready to do a really nice few Horus Heresy books. Which is one of the most exciting releases in all of warhammerdom. And if Forgeworld dont make specil books for it, thats fine, we have all the models we need to play it ourselves with our normal rulebooks.

It would be interesting to see the sales figures for the new marines compared to the rest of Forgeworld's products. It would be nice if the sales were true to the creation of Forgeworld and their love of tanks, but i just like the older mk's of marine armour.

They've said they had no plans to make Horus Heresy IAs.

They never said they wouldn't do models. In fact, they've said over and over that they try to make what the fans want.

When every single Q&A they have has a HH question or five in it...well...they got the message.

Actually they said they would to do it eventually, but it was a long way off as they want to make sure they do it right.

I think four is the right answer. The Kits came from FW - not from GW, so its part of one. Yes GW might has been realising, that the 3rd parters rise from their covers and will shoot back with no cover saves allowed. See part of two.

When or if FW will releas a IA - HH or PH book then it´ll go like butter in the hot sun an when the cash is flowing - why not make the thingy "official" and bring a campaign under the GW label? Die Xenos like Necrons, Tyranids or Tau will be pushed in the role of megarachnids, lear and something - Thats a part of three.
Peace through superior Firepower!

GW does (or at least did) do heresy stuff, http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1490654&prodId=prod1140 240 is an example, then there are the older things like the Horus Heresy board game.
But as it is I think as has been previously said, Heresy stuff is for those of use with old collections () and have them by default and for those who want something more specialist (read pretty)
